HC Deb 19 March 1957 vol 567 c204
38. Mr. Willis

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has considered the First Report of the Law Reform Committee for Scotland; and what steps he proposes to take.

Mr. Maclay

I am considering this report in consultation with my right hon. and learned friend the Lord Advocate, and I shall, of course, take into account any representations which are received about its recommendations. I can, however, hold out no prospect of immediate legislation.

Mr. Willis

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind that a very eminent member of the Scottish Bench has already said that the recommendations regarding the liability of occupiers are urgent and not to be delayed for two or three years?

Mr. Maclay

There are many very urgent matters which come into our affairs.
