HC Deb 05 March 1957 vol 566 cc177-8
46. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Prime Minister who are his advisers on economic and financial matters who are to accompany him to Bermuda.

The Prime Minister

I would refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply I gave on Tuesday last to the hon. Gentleman the Member for Deptford (Sir L. Plummer).

Mr. Hughes

In view of the importance of keeping the American Press well informed in advance about the policy of Her Majesty's Government, will the Prime Minister consider taking the President of the Board of Trade with him? In view of our financial obligations to America, will the Prime Minister also consider taking a veteran, experienced £20,000-a-year chairman of one of the big banks, like Lord Monckton, to advise him on finance?

The Prime Minister

The hon. Gentleman is making so many suggestions about the composition of the delegation that I am wondering whether he would like to go himself.
