HC Deb 24 July 1957 vol 574 cc414-5
42. Sir L. Plummer

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, in view of the number of accidents involving personal injury that have taken place in the vicinity in the past two years, he will again consult with the local authority with a view to the installation of traffic lights at the junction of Gower Street and Hampstead Road, London.

Mr. Nugent

The police are conducting an up-to-date traffic census at this junction. When I know the outcome I will write to the hon. Member.

Sir L. Plummer

Does the Minister consider that the number of vehicles which park in the vicinity of the junction, and the danger that there is when traffic is travelling north, demand the particular and special attention of the police?

Mr. Nugent

Yes, I shall certainly call that matter to the attention of the police.
