HC Deb 04 July 1957 vol 572 cc1301-2
52. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education whether, in view of pressing need for a primary school to serve the Millfields Estate in the borough of Wednesbury, immediate priority can be given to the building of this school.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education (Sir Edward Boyle)

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave on 6th June.

Mr. Stonehouse

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that priority for the building of this school was given by his right hon. Friend the former Minister of Education some years ago and that there is a pressing need for this school to be built, as there is a large young school population which otherwise may have to go some miles to attend school?

Sir E. Boyle

I am aware of the hon. Member's concern in this matter. My noble Friend has approved the inclusion of this school in the reserve list for the 1958–59 building programme, so it definitely has priority for the 1959–60 main programme.
