HC Deb 13 February 1957 vol 564 c1261
22. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what plans are in hand to improve the amenities for passengers and friends at Ringway Airport.

Mr. Watkinson

Plans are being prepared by the Manchester city architect for a new terminal building with modern facilities for passengers and friends to take the place of the existing temporary buildings. I understand that the city council will shortly present the plans for my approval in accordance with my agreement with it.

That news will be welcome to all users of Ringway Airport, but can my right hon. Friend say what is the intended completion date for this work? It is rather important, in view of the growth of Manchester Airport as an international airport.

Mr. Watkinson

I understand that the corporation—of course it is its project—hopes that it will be completed in 1959.
