HC Deb 10 April 1957 vol 568 cc1120-1
20. Mr. K. Robinson

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware of the congestion at the junction of King's Road, Oakley Street and Dovehouse Street, S.W.3; and if he will utilise the space now occupied by an open-air car auction depot for improving traffic circulation.

Mr. Nugent

I am not aware of any serious congestion at this junction, but if the London County Council as the improvement authority consider that the roads concerned should be widened, they will no doubt bear the hon. Member's suggestion in mind.

Mr. Robinson

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that there is not only congestion but also considerable public feeling about this space being used for car auctions? Does he not think that the space would be much better utilised by building a roundabout?

Mr. Nugent

I am doubtful whether a roundabout would assist. I know that there is local feeling. The matter is one for the London County Council.
