asked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what official communications he has had from the Government of Ceylon concerning the policy of Her Majesty's Government in the Middle East.

Exchanges of view between Commonwealth countries are confidential, and it is not the practice to publish details of them.

Mr. Thomson

Is the hon. Member aware that the Prime Minister of Ceylon has publicly stated that if Ceylon remains in the Commonwealth it will be due to the fact that the official Opposition in the House opposed the policies of Her Majesty's Government?
