HC Deb 12 November 1956 vol 560 cc532-3
6. Mr. Skeffington

asked the Minister of Health whether it is now proposed to permit minor surgical operations to take place in the Hayes Cottage Hospital.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Health (Miss Patricia Homsby-Smith)

The regional hospital board is considering this and my right hon. Friend will inform the hon. Member of the outcome.

Mr. Skeffington

Would the Minister bear in mind that for many years minor surgery was successfully performed at this hospital and that this suggestion would relieve the very much overworked Hillingdon Hospital, which is serving a large area? Is he aware that a number of G. P. s have volunteered to give postoperative treatment to patients, which obviously they cannot do at the larger hospitals which are some way off?

Miss Hornsby-Smith

I think it is for the reason that the hon. Member has given that the regional hospital board is making careful investigations.
