HC Deb 09 May 1956 vol 552 cc1215-6
51. Mr. Oliver

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the terms and conditions governing the transfer by the British European Airways Corporation of certain Channel Island routes to Jersey Air Lines.

Mr. Watkinson

It would be contrary to normal practice to disclose the details of the commercial agreement between British European Airways and Airlines (Jersey) Ltd. Airlines (Jersey) will, however, operate all the services which it has taken over from B.E.A. under the same terms and conditions as apply to all air services operated by independent companies as associates of the Airways Corporation.

Mr. Oliver

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why the whole of this transaction was undertaken and completed without the knowledge of the men concerned, or even of the joint industrial council, and that they were acquainted with this transaction only when the matter appeared in the Press? Does the right hon. Gentleman believe that to be conducive to good relations?

Mr. Watkinson

I will look into the point, but the hon. and learned Gentleman will wish to know that I have made inquiries and that there has been no loss of jobs or redundancies arising from the change.
