HC Deb 20 March 1956 vol 550 c979
13. Mr. Swingler

asked the Secretary of State for War what method of inquiry will be adopted by the civilian committee investigating the employment of National Service men in the United Kingdom; and if they will be enabled to make unheralded visits to Army establishments.

Mr. F. Maclean

We shall follow our normal policy of leaving it to the chairman to decide on the methods to be used. The committee will then be given all necessary facilities.

Mr. Swingler

Can we take it from that that spontaneous visits will be made to Army establishments by the committee as a committee, and can the hon. Gentleman give an assurance that the committee will not be the victims of organised "bull"?

Mr. Maclean

Certainly, if that is the desire of the chairman.
