HC Deb 24 July 1956 vol 557 c190
20. Mr. George Craddock

asked the President of the Board of Trade if the leaders of the Soviet trade delegation will be given facilities to meet representatives of the woollen textile trade at Bradford with the object of increasing woollen exports to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The Minister of State, Board of Trade (Mr. A. R. W. Low)

Mr. Malyshev and his trade delegation are mainly concerned with the purchase of plant, machinery and instruments. But we have reminded them of our interest in the export of consumer goods. I specifically told Mr. Malyshev I would welcome a visit by him or a member of his delegation to the woollen and cotton textile industries before they leave.

Mr. Craddock

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that I am sure that the manufacturers and the trade unions in Yorkshire and Lancashire will be delighted with that statement?
