§ 2. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for War how many of Her Majesty's troops, and belonging to which units, were accommodated in Goodge Street underground assembly centre from its first use for the purpose up to the date of the recent destruction by fire; and, from that latter date up to the latest convenient date, how many of Her Majesty's troops, and belonging to which units, have been assembled in or near London on their way to embarkation for abroad.
§ Mr. HeadAs I explained in answer to a Question by the hon. and learned Member on 10th April, the detailed information required to answer the first part of this Question is not available, but about 50,000 troops a year passed through the London Assembly Centre when it was at Goodge Street. Since the fire, about 9,000 men of many different units have passed through the Centre's temporary accommodation at Woolwich.
§ Mr. HughesCan the right hon. Gentleman tell us how many of those troops were Scottish?
