17. Mr. Grant-Ferris

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is in a position to report progress on the quality milk payment scheme of February, 1956.

Mr. Amory

I understand that the Milk Marketing Board, which is responsible for payments to producers, has set up a sub-committee to consider the problem, but that the sub-committee has not yet reported.

Mr. Grant-Ferris

In view of the feeling often expressed by my right hon. Friend, that he deplores the deterioration in the national milk supply, will he not do his best to expedite the decision in this matter?

Mr. Amory

I do not think that I ever have deplored the deterioration in the milk supply.
