HC Deb 10 July 1956 vol 556 cc185-6
33. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will make a statement about the Goodge Street Underground Station which was used as an assembly station for Her Majesty's troops until it was recently damaged by fire, indicating whether it has been repaired, the extent, nature and cost of the repairs and the purpose for which it is now being used.

Mr. Head

It has not been repaired and is not being used.

Mr. Hughes

In view of the grave dangers to which young soldiers were exposed recently in that place, will the Minister give an undertaking that it will never again be used to house troops?

Mr. Head

I gave that undertaking to the hon. and learned Member about a month ago.
