HC Deb 29 February 1956 vol 549 c1176
25. Mrs. L. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the new hospital at Paphos, Cyprus, is yet in use for patients; and for how long the sick in this district have been hospitalised in tents.

Mr. Hare

Part of the hospital will be in use within three weeks. Since the earthquake in September, 1953, patients have been accommodated in temporary tented accommodation which has provided a continuous hospital service.

Mrs. Jeger

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that on 19th December his right hon. Friend told this House that the hospital would be ready for occupation within one or two months from that date? Can he assure us that this time he really means what he says?

Mr. Hare

I can assure the hon. Lady that I mean exactly what I say.
