HC Deb 28 February 1956 vol 549 cc983-4
2. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he can yet make a statement following consideration of the final Report by the Committee on Synthetic Detergents.

Mr. Sandys

The Committee's recommendations are being studied. Meanwhile, I have arranged for the Report to be published as soon as possible.

Mr. Dodds

Will the right hon. Gentleman say what he means by "as soon as possible" because there is a widespread belief that the wrongful use of detergents can be harmful to the hands of housewives and that manufacturers should give a warning on detergent containers?

Mr. Sandys

With the trouble in the printing industry I should not like to say, in reply to the first part of the supplementary question, when that could be done.
