HC Deb 21 February 1956 vol 549 c190
56. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government in view of the changed economic and financial circumstances of recent months, to what extent he considers his estimate of the number of slum properties that should have been demolished in 1956 will now have to be curtailed.

Mr. Sandys

I have never made any such estimate and, therefore, have no cause to amend it.

Mr. Sorensen

For the purposes of public information, could not the Minister give some indication of how many fewer slum properties will be demolished this year, or, on the other hand, his approximate estimate of the number of slum properties that will be demolished in 1956?

Mr. Sandys

I could not make a guess of that kind.

Mr. Mellish

The right hon. Gentleman has not got a clue.
