HC Deb 21 February 1956 vol 549 c169
3. Mr. Watkins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is now in a position to reply to the further representations of the Welsh Parliamentary Party made on 11th January in connection with the National Library of Wales.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Harold Macmillan)

Yes, Sir. I have written to the hon. Gentleman.

Mr. Watkins

What can I do, Mr. Speaker, in a situation of this kind? The right hon. Gentleman's letter has only just been received by me. I have not had a chance to look at it. What is the Chancellor's decision with regard to the payment of intermediate scales to the staff of the National Library of Wales?

Mr. Macmillan

I am sorry for the delay. All these things take time. When the hon. Gentleman reads my letter he may like to see me, when I shall be very happy to discuss the matter with him.
