HC Deb 09 February 1956 vol 548 c1801
51. Mr. Peyton

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to receive a report on pig marketing from the Reorganisation Commission.

Mr. Amory

I understand that the Commission has largely completed the hearing of evidence from interested organisations in the United Kingdom. It is too early to forecast when its Report can be presented.

Mr. Peyton

Does my right hon. Friend realise that this will be very good news to large numbers of the agricultural community who hope that he will then consider himself free to decide upon the desirability of a comprehensive marketing scheme for pigs—both pork and bacon?

Mr. Amory

I do think that the inquiry which is taking place is very important, and I am very much looking forward to receiving the Report.
