§ 40. Mr. J. R. H. Hutchisonasked the President of the Board of Trade the present practice of the Egyptian Government in regard to charges on stocks of British goods accumulated before the agreement which was made at the time of our releasing sterling balances.
§ The Minister of State, Board of Trade (Mr. A. R. W. Low)I assume that my hon. Friend is referring to the additional import duty which was recently introduced by the Egyptian Government and is applicable to certain imports from all sources. This duty does not apply to any of our exports already paid for under the sterling entitlement arrangements which were abolished from 31st August, 1955.
§ Mr. HutchisonMay I take it that none of the goods accumulated at the time of 1256 the agreement, and belonging to British exporters, have been subjected to a double imposition of duty?
