asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will amend the lighting Regulations for heavy vehicles to ensure that they are more easily identified.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I think that the provision now made under the 1954 Regulations is adequate but I will gladly consider any suggestion which my hon. Friend has in mind.

Has my right hon. Friend considered the system used in the United States—contour lighting of heavy vehicles?

All these questions were gone into before the 1954 Regulations were made, but I will certainly note my hon. Friend's suggestion.
