§ 23. Mr. Ernest Daviesasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation how many "A" special licences have been refused, in accordance with paragraph 4 of Part I of the First Schedule to the Transport Act, 1953, because the vehicles were unable to serve substantially the same areas as prior to disposal.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterOne hundred and six.
§ Mr. DaviesWould the Minister not agree that that is a rather surprisingly small figure in view of the large number of transfers of disposed-of vehicles from one part of the country to another? Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in many cases vehicles have recently been sold at a profit after having been disposed of by the Commission, and then transferred to different parts of the country? Will the right hon. Gentleman draw to the licensing authorities' attention the provisions of the Act, and see that they are fulfilled?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterIt shows how smoothly the disposal operation has gone.
