HC Deb 02 November 1955 vol 545 cc1008-9
18. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Postmaster-General if he will consider issuing books of stamps to the total value of 10s. in addition to those already issued at lower values.

Dr. Hill

I doubt whether there would be a sufficient demand for 10s. books to justify the cost of production and stocking.

Mr. Gresham Cooke

Would there not be a ready sale for these books, particularly among long-suffering Members of Parliament, who are always short of stamps?

Dr. Hill

The sales of 5s. books of stamps are a little more than one-third of those of 2s. 6d. books, and I do not really think that there is sufficient demand for 10s. books.

Mr. Glenvil Hall

Apart from whether or not there is a demand, can the right hon. Gentleman tell us what the actual cost would be?

Dr. Hill

Not without notice.
