HC Deb 02 November 1955 vol 545 c1009
21. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Postmaster-General whether he has considered a request from the town clerk of Newport for an additional sub-post office on the Gaer Housing Estate, Newport; and, in view of the large increase in population and the present inadequate service, if he will authorise its provision at the earliest possible date.

Dr. Hill

I am having inquiries made, and I hope to reply very shortly to the letter which the hon. Member has sent to me about this matter.

Mr. Freeman

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that at present the Post Office facilities are a very long way from the centre of this housing estate and that the only convenient place is in the middle of the shopping centre of the estate? Will he give special consideration to that point?

Dr. Hill

The hon. Gentleman wrote to me on 17th October, and I am looking into the problem which he raised.
