asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will instruct the British member of the executive committee co-operating with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to press for adequate assistance to refugee students and improved grants for maintenance funds and scholarships.

Mr. Turton

The High Commissioner's proposals for expenditure in 1955, include 106,000 dollars for assistance to students in Germany, Austria and Greece. These proposals will be discussed next week by the Executive Committee at Geneva. Meanwhile they are being studied by Her Majesty's Government.
