§ 14. Mr. Bowdenasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that the assurance given to his predecessor by the East Anglian Hospital Board, in November, 1948, that representation of the views of Leicester should be given on the Cromer Hospital Management Committee is now not being carried out and that the recent nomination from the Leicester City Council to that committee has been ignored; and if he will take steps to see that the undertakings given when the Holt Convalescent Home was taken over from the Leicester City Council are implemented.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI understand that while on this occasion the nomination made by the city council was not accepted by the regional hospital board, the member actually appointed to the hospital management committee had represented the Leicester interest on the committee for the previous six years and had twice before been nominated by the council. I am however making further inquiries and will write to the hon. Member when they are complete.
§ Mr. BowdenIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that the gentleman concerned was certainly a member of Leicester City Council but was defeated at the polls as a Conservative candidate and that this is the first time that the direct nominee of Leicester City Council has been rejected?
§ Mr. MacleodI said that I would look into the matter. As far as I am concerned, I think it is almost certainly a genuine mistake. As soon as it is cleared up, I will write to the hon. Member.
