HC Deb 23 March 1955 vol 538 c2045
16. Mr. F. M. Bennett

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many party lines are currently in operation in the United Kingdom.

Sir. E. Boyle

Eight hundred and sixty-five thousand. If it were not for sharing the waiting list would be twice what it is now.

Mr. Bennett

Has my hon. Friend been made aware that among certain sections of the population peculiar difficulties are being encountered in the amicable sharing of party lines?

Sir. E. Boyle

That may be so.
