HC Deb 08 March 1955 vol 538 c132
30. Captain Pilkington

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many more houses he estimates the country needs.

Mr. Sandys

It is quite impossible to make any reliable estimate.

Captain Pilkington

How long will it take people at present on the waiting list to be housed, in view of the fact that the Government are providing an average of 302,000 houses a year as compared with 169,000 by the Labour Government?

Mr. Sandys

All I can say is that it will be quicker than under the Labour Government.
