§ 18. Mr. Elwyn Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what proposals Her Majesty's Government have received from the United States Government for joint American-West European economic aid to Asian countries; and what has been Her Majesty's Government's reply to those proposals.
§ Mr. TurtonNo proposals have been received, although Her Majesty's Government are aware that the United States Government have been giving consideration to this complex problem.
§ Mr. Elwyn JonesAre the Government making any counter-proposals or suggestions in regard to this matter, which is one of very great importance in view of the conditions in Asia at the present time?
§ Mr. TurtonThe matter was, of course, one of those discussed at the Bangkok Conference, as will be seen from the communiqué, to which I would refer the hon. and learned Gentleman.
