§ 50. Mr. M. Stewartasked the Minister of Works whether he will cause to be placed in Westminster Hall a plaque commemorating the acquittal of the Seven Bishops on 30th June, 1688.
§ Mr. StewartIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that there is already in Westminster Hall a plaque commemorating the impeachment of Warren Hastings and that the acquittal of the Seven Bishops is a much more important and creditable episode in our history?
§ Mr. BirchThere are in Westminster Hall plaques recording three famous trials, but there are 26 trials in all on the list and I think that it would be inviduous to choose between them.
Colonel Gomme-DoncanWould my right hon. Friend not agree that, interesting as they are historically, these trials which are commemorated in Westminster Hall represent serious cases of English misjustice?
