§ 22. Mr. H. Daviesasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what applications he has received and what grants he has made, or intends to make, to the Biddulph Council to facilitate the sewering of the Biddulph Moor area in the Leek Division.
§ Mr. DeedesAn application made in 1939 was not proceeded with owing to the war. Since the war, the council has not applied to sewer the area and no question of grant has arisen.
§ Mr. DaviesCan the Parliamentary Secretary say whether the Minister considered the making of a grant at the time of the 1939 application? Can the Parliamentary Secretary say how much the grant for the job would have been then?
§ Mr. DeedesThe application did not cover the area which the hon. Member has in mind—Biddulph Moor. We would of course be prepared to consider, without prejudice, any question of a grant if the application were made.
§ 35. Mr. Mitchisonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that the part of the 747 sewerage scheme at Rushton, Northamptonshire, for which he authorised advertising for tenders in June, 1953, is now virtually completed; and whether, in the interests of economy, he will now accede to the request made by the Kettering Rural District Council in their letters of 9th June and 5th October, 1954, and authorise them to proceed with the remainder of the scheme, while the contractors' labour and equipment are still on site.
§ Mr. DeedesYes, Sir.
