asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation when the proposed one-way system in Great Portland Street will be introduced.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

There has been some difficulty about the alternative routes for buses, but the Commissioner of Police now informs me that if the Marylebone Council agree to his proposals he hopes to make an early start.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Great Portland Street project will be north to south or south to north?

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter
