HC Deb 27 May 1954 vol 528 c611
45. Mr. Warbey

asked the Prime Minister the proposals of Her Majesty's Government regarding the member nations to be included in the proposed regional security organisation for South-East Asia.

The Minister of State (Mr. Selwyn Lloyd)

I have been asked to reply.

Her Majesty's Government have not yet made any definite proposals regarding membership of the proposed regional security organisation for South-East Asia.

Mr. Warbey

In view of the spirit of compromise which appears to be prevailing at the Geneva Conference, in which the Foreign Secretary is taking his due share, will the Government give consideration, when the time comes, to the possibility of all-in security arrangements in South-East Asia, rather than a one-sided military alliance?

Mr. Lloyd

I am quite certain that my right hon. Friend will not exclude from his consideration any security arrangement.
