HC Deb 25 February 1954 vol 524 c567
42. Mr. Ian Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied that the pay, conditions of service and accommodation of the permanent staff of the Civil Defence Staff College are satisfactory.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I have under consideration a pay claim and representations about accommodation submitted on behalf of the instructional staff at the Civil Defence Staff College. I am glad to be able to say that it has now been decided that the College should have an established cadre. The staff will be informed of the detailed arrangements as soon as possible.

Mr. Harvey

Is my right hon. and learned Friend aware that this will give the greatest possible satisfaction not only to the staff but to those who regard the importance of the Civil Defence Staff College as very great? Will he now turn his attention to the second aspect of the case and reach a similarly satisfactory conclusion?

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I shall do my best.
