HC Deb 25 February 1954 vol 524 c563
47. Mr. E. Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the present policy of Her Majesty's Government regarding a change in the present laws of extradition.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

No change in the existing law is at present contemplated.

Mr. Fletcher

Does not the Home Secretary consider that in many respects the laws of extradition are out of date and should be modernised?

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

No, Sir, I do not, but I shall pay great attention to any proposals which come out of the Council of Europe's study of the subject.
