HC Deb 22 February 1954 vol 524 c2
1. Commander Donaldson

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will make a statement regarding the state of fuel supplies to Roxburghshire and Selkirkshire in relation to quantity of household grades.

The Minister of Fuel and Power (Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd)

At 6th February, stocks of house coal at merchants' depots in the counties of Roxburgh and Selkirk amounted to 1,790 tons compared with 1,204 tons at the corresponding date last year.

Commander Donaldson

I thank my right hon. Friend for his answer and express gratitude for the increase. Is he aware that the Scottish people resident in those counties would prefer to have Scottish coal, and if I write to him on this and other subjects, will he consider that aspect of the fuel supply?

Mr. Lloyd

Yes, Sir.
