HC Deb 03 February 1954 vol 523 c348
41. Mr. E. Johnson

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is now in a position to make a statement about the new scheme for pensions for the wage grades working on British Railways.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The British Transport Commission have reached agreement with the trade unions upon the outline proposals for a pension scheme for male wages grades. The detailed drafting of the rules is now proceeding in consultation with the unions.

Mr. Johnson

When does my right hon. Friend expect these consultations are likely to be completed?

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

They are getting on with them fairly fast. The rules are rather complicated and I think this matter is best left to the Commission and the trade unions concerned.
