asked the Minister of Health what arrangements have now been made for the distribution of special foods to mothers and children; and what proportion of the cost is to be borne by the local authorities and what proportion by the Treasury.

Welfare foods are now distributed by local health authorities as part of their services for the care of mothers and young children under the National Health Service Act; as in the case of all local health authority services, a 50 per cent. Exchequer grant is paid.
