HC Deb 27 October 1953 vol 518 c2604
28. Mr. Malcolm MacPherson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the response of education authorities to the circular of 13th June urging them to obtain advice on the planning of schools from experienced teachers.

Mr. Henderson Stewart

My right hon. Friend does not think that he would be justified in asking education authorities to report what they have done to give effect to the paragraph in the circular referred to about consultation with teachers, but he has no reason to suppose that the suggestion is not being acted on.

Mr. MacPherson

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that a number of meetings of education committees have taken place since the circular was issued and that the impression given by the reports of the discussions is that not very great weight is being attached to the recommendation?
