HC Deb 27 October 1953 vol 518 cc2607-8
36. Mrs. Mann

asked the Secretary of State for War what complaints he has received regarding inadequate feeding from, or concerning, Her Majesty's Forces in Kenya; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Head

There have been three individual complaints, as a result of which I have already called for a report on the messing arrangements in the two units concerned.

Mrs. Mann

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether these complaints are founded on a general basis?

Mr. Head

I think that before I answer the hon. Lady's question I had better have a glance at the report, for which I have called. But I can assure her that the ration in Kenya is the full Army ration which, basically, should provide a perfectly adequate amount of food. How well it is used in these particular units I can only tell when I have seen the report.
