asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the report of the Crofting Commission will be published.

My right hon. Friend hopes to receive this report in time for publication in the early months of next year.

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the report is urgently awaited? Can he hold out any hope that once it has been received it will be followed by some action on the very serious and urgent problems relating to this system of land holding?

Mr. Snadden

The Commission hope to present their report to the Secretary of State for Scotland about the end of December.

On a point of order. Do the Standing Orders state that every Scottish Member must ask a supplementary question even though it is unnecessary?
