HC Deb 21 October 1953 vol 518 c1974
53. Mr. Callaghan

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many members of the Royal Fleet Reserve who have been recalled as a result of the Korean emergency are still serving; when the last of them is due to be released under existing arrangements; and if he will arrange to release them earlier in view of the cessation of hostilities.

Commander Noble

At the end of September there were about 2,750 reservists due for release under an accelerated programme between now and the end of next March. I can hold out no hope that it will be possible to improve on this programme, but no reservist will be retained longer than is necessary.
