HC Deb 24 November 1953 vol 521 c173
17. Captain Duncan

asked the Secretary of State for War why the Union Jack is not flown over the graves of British Service men in the British Zone of Germany.

Mr. Head

The Union Jack is flown over the graves of British Service men in foreign countries only on ceremonial occasions. This is in accordance with the practice of the Imperial War Graves Commission for the past 30 years.

Captain Duncan

Is that carried out in Germany today?

Mr. Head

So far as I know, that is carried out in all cemeteries.
