§ 34. Mr. Storeyasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is now able to relax the restrictions upon private street works imposed in 1951 and 1952; and whether he will consider the procedure laid down by his Department for obtaining sanction for private street work expenditure, with a view to simplifying it and giving more discretion to local authorities.
§ The Minister of Housing and Local Government (Mr. Harold Macmillan)What can be allowed is conditioned by the resources available for this class of work. Subject to this, I am anxious to see the procedure made as simple as possible.
