HC Deb 12 May 1953 vol 515 c1046
35. Brigadier Medlicott

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how soon it is anticipated that approval will be given for the drainage and sewerage scheme for the Reepham area in the county of Norfolk.

Mr. H. Macmillan

I am sorry I cannot give a definite date yet. In any case, the most urgent need seems to be for a scheme for piped water supply. Tests are going on now.

Brigadier Medlicott

Is my right hon. Friend aware that the provision of the drainage scheme is now considerably overdue, and that this amenity would be of great help to the general housing plans for this district?

Mr. Macmillan

I am well aware of that, but we must get a sufficient supply of water first before the drainage scheme is introduced.

Mr. Stokes

What is the right hon. Gentleman going to do when he gets the piped water but has not got any drainage?
