HC Deb 05 May 1953 vol 515 c182
13. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for War what special recruiting measures he is contemplating to mark the occasion of Her Majesty's Coronation.

Mr. Head

I am arranging, with the help of the banks, that every recruit, man, woman or boy, who enlists on a normal Regular Army engagement at a recruiting office during the month of June this year shall receive, as part of his or her first day's pay and allowances, one of the new Crown pieces.
