§ 15. Mr. Nabarroasked the Minister of Food whether he will make a statement upon prospects for derationing bacon.
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeBacon must be considered together with pork, and I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave about the latter to my hon. Friend the Member for Morecambe and Lonsdale (Sir I. Fraser) on 17th June.
§ Mr. NabarroIs it not a fact that month by month the pig population is steadily increasing, and that while there appears to be abundant pork we still have this static bacon ration? Can my right hon. and gallant Friend hold out any hope of disposing of bacon rationing at a fairly early date?
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeAs I said in my reply to my hon. Friend on 17th June, I am satisfied that a piecemeal approach to the derationing of meat would not be satisfactory, and that, therefore, I should deal with the whole of the meat question as one.
§ Mr. ShurmerWill the right hon. and gallant Gentleman see to it when the time does come for the derationing of these commodities that the hon. Gentleman the Member for Kidderminster (Mr. Nabarro) is asking about, that the prices will not increase, as has happened in the case of those foods already derationed?
