§ 42. Mr. Manuelasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of school sites that have been acquired and serviced since the end of October, 1951, and the comparable figures for the previous 18 months.
§ Mr. Henderson StewartSince October, 1951, 167 school sites have been acquired, of which 103 have been serviced. During the preceding period of 18 months, 121 sites were acquired, and of these 49 were serviced during the period and a further 40 have been serviced since then.
§ Mr. ManuelWhile thanking the Joint Under-Secretary for that statement, may I ask him to indicate the position regarding actual building operations on sites now serviced after requisition, in order to reassure us about future educational needs, for primary schools in particular?
§ Mr. StewartThere are so many sites, and I have given the figures. There are more than 100, and I could not give the exact figure without notice, but if the hon. Gentleman gives me notice I will do so.
