HC Deb 09 June 1953 vol 516 cc5-6
4. Mrs. White

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what report has been submitted by the official of his Department who has investigated the dispersal over a wide area of dust from the cement works at Padeswood.

Mr. H. Macmillan

My inspector last visited these works on the 5th March. His report indicated that effective steps were being taken to control emissions of dust, and that there was little cause for complaint.

Mrs. White

As there have been widespread emissions of dust from the factory, can the right hon. Gentleman assure us that new mechanical methods have been adopted within the last few months?

Mr. Macmillan

These premises are fitted with electrical precipitators, but I will certainly send the inspector again if the hon. Lady thinks that it would be useful to do so.
