HC Deb 21 July 1953 vol 518 cc184-5
18. Sir D. Campbell

asked the President of the Board of Trade the average time which now elapses between the receipt of a complete specification by the Patent Office and the sealing of the patent; and how this compares with the time taken in 1938.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

The average time is now about two years and eight months as compared with one year and two months in 1938. Three months of the increased time taken are the result of the revised requirements of the Patents Act, 1949.
